Once the cloth is draped over the camera and through
the lens opening, you may reduce the size of the tripod opening by
drawing up the shock cord and
securing it with the locking toggle. Doing so will remove the slack
and cause the fabric to gather around the neck of the tripod, sealing
out light that would shine in from below the camera.
Again, it is not essential that this opening be closed. It depends
on how much light you wish to block out. Most people will find that
with the cloth simply shading the camera's LCD, it is possible to easily
make out the image data.
